Baby Face Mashup - The Funniest Shower Activity!

This hilarious baby shower activity allows guests to create how they think the baby will look based on mom and dad's features. I'd seen this concept only a few times on Pinterest, and knew that my friend Melissa always thought it was funny so decided to attempt it for her baby shower! She and her husband love their dog Cooper, so I put an extra twist on it and included his face too! The results were TOO GOOD!

This project took a bit of time and patience, but the actual steps are pretty simple!

  • Find one picture of each of them where they are looking straight ahead and their faces are about the same in scale. It helps if the photos are high quality - I luckily had access to their engagement photos and used those (Cooper was in them too!)

  • Using a photo editor or even Microsoft Word, expand their face on the page to take up most of the 8 1/2 x 11 space - each face gets its own page. When you print and cut out each of their faces, you want them to be about the same in height and width. This part takes a bit of trial and error.

  • Once you think you've gotten their face sizes right, define points where you will cut into sections - forehead (with hair), eyes, nose, and smile/chin.

  • You want the sizing of these sections to be pretty comparable with each other, so again, this part might take some trial and error until you get it right.

  • From there, you'll print multiple copies of their faces and get to cutting! I chose to do black and white rather than color printing to avoid any skin tone variances, but you can definitely print in color if you think it'll match up well!

Once at the party, I laid out the different sections of everyone's faces (as shown below) and also provided circles made of thicker card-stock so people had something to which they could adhere their creations! I provided tape, and made a few examples so everyone knew what to do!

Oh, and in case you were wondering, their little guy did not end up with Cooper's ears or tongue (phew!) Yeah, he's pretty dang cute.
