Clothespin Photo Display Frame

These boards are a great way to showcase photos at an event or at your home! It can be tempting to purchase one pre-made from Etsy or a home decor store, but with a few simple steps, you can make your own for less than half the price!

What you'll need

  • Frame

  • Screws

  • Drill or Screw Driver

  • String

  • Mini Clothespins

  • Photos

Start with finding a reclaimed wood style frame - this one is 18"x 24" but you can go larger or smaller depending on how many photos you want to fit.

Remove the glass from the frame and determine how many evenly spaced strings you want to hang. With this size of frame, I recommend 3 or 4 strings; I did four which was definitely the max that would have allowed 4x6 or smaller photos to be properly displayed.

Drill a screw into one side of the frame and tie your string to the screw - don't drill it too close to the base a) so you still have space to tie the strong and b) to avoid cracking the wood.

Do the same exercise on the other side of the frame and pull the string across to tie a knot onto that screw. You will want the string to be pulled pretty tight so the line is almost straight - when you add the weight of the clothespins and photos it will naturally cause the string to dip creating that curved look.

Once you've added all the screws and string, clip the clothespins, attach your photos and voila! You can add as many clothespins and photos as you wish - in the photos above, the left has 4 photos per string for a total of 16, whereas the right has 5-6 photos per string and they're just spaced closer together.

I keep mine hung in my office with pictures when I'm not using it for an event so it is always being well-utilized!
